Metapod is a Pokémon introduced in Generation I (Kanto).
It evolves from Caterpie when given an Evo Candy. It evolves into Butterfree when given an Evo Candy.
There is a chance that Butterfree will be reverted into Metapod when exposed to a Devolution Spray KC-MK1, Devolution Spray KC-MK2, or Devolution Spray KC-MK3. Similarly, a Devolution Spray can be used on Metapod for a chance of it reverting into Caterpie.
Discoverer’s Dex Entry
Though Metapod is commonly regarded as the mere transitional stage between Caterpie and Butterfree, the shell of a Metapod cared for over a long time without evolving can develop into the hardest substance in the known universe, making it a practically invincible Pokémon. Thus, some hypothetical trainer devoted to raising an entire army of Metapod would be able to take over the world.
