For some players, collecting many individuals of a specific species of Pokémon is a goal. While the game has a forced limit on the number of a particular species of Pokémon that a player can catch, additional members of the species can be received through trading with another player or the GTS, purchasing from the Black Market, or evolving or devolving another Pokémon. This article documents the Pokémon that various players collect.
As of right now, there is currently no benefit to collecting a large number of a single species, unless otherwise specified by Saphir. Historically, MegaPod, Snivy, Quas, Zachie, and Herbie got Shiny Metapod, Weezing, Bulbasaur, Miltank, and Pichu, respectively, for collecting 50 of that species. Additionally, Quas received another Shiny Bulbasaur by collecting 100 of that species.
